This Week...
This is the third of three devotionals disussing main themes from the book of Ephesians. In the first devotional we looked at the proper Christian posture of sitting with Christ in heavenly places.(see Eph.2:6)
Then we looked at the sucessful believer's walk spoken of in Ephesians 4:1. In review:" we first "sit", (in Christ) then we "walk" (in Him)." This brings us to the last, but certainly not the least of the Ephesian themes in our devotional study. That is the effective stand against the "wiles" of the enemy. The word "stand" or "withstand" is used four times in Ephesians 6:11-14. The word "wrestle" is used once in this context. The Greek word for "wrestle" is "pale". This word is defined as:"struggle, wrestling and contains the idea of a fight characterized by trickery, cunningness, and strategy.
In summary as the believer learns to sit in the finished work of Jesus; an effective walk will follow enabling the Christian to stand against the enemy's stragetic fight of trickery. Remember the sequence of these postures: sit, walk, and stand knowing that you are truly blessed in Jesus Name.
