This Week...
In our previous devotional we looked at 1 Thessalonians 5:23 and the fact that man is made up of three parts:spirit;soul; and body.In this study we will define those three parts.
First there is the spirit of a person. This is the place that is dead or separated from God before conversion. This is where one becomes a new creation by receiving the life of the Lord upon becoming born-again.(see 2Corinthians 5:17; John 3:3)
The next part of a person is the soul. This consists of the mind, will, and emotions. It is the overall personality of an individual. The soul is the feeling realm. The last part of a triune human being is the body. The body houses the spirit and the soul. This is the obvious part that others see. While the soul and the body can be experianced through the five senses;(seeing, hearing, touch, taste, and smell) the spirit cannot be directly accessed through the five senses.
In our next devotional we will begin to look at what it means to be born-again and how a Christian can begin to see what took place when this event occured. You are blessed in His Awesume Name.
