This Week...
In our weekly devotionals we have undertaken a foundational discussion that is vital to an effective Christian walk. It is looking at the three part makeup of man which consists of spirit, soul, and body.(see 1Thess.5:23) When the Word of God states that a believer is a new creation in Christ and admonishes that person to behold that all things have become new, it is referring to the spirit part of an individual.(see 2Corinthians 5:17)
The next question that arises is how does one behold or see who they have become in the spirit (i.e. in Christ)? In the natural physical realm one would need a mirror to see themselves. It is no different in the spiritual realm. We need a spiritual mirror.That mirror is the New Testament revelation contained in the Word of God.
The Bible states it like this in 2 Corinthians 3:18 : "But we all, with open (unveiled) face beholding as in a glass (mirrror)the Glory of the Lord, are changed ( metamorphised) into the SAME image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord." This is why we have a mandate from our Father to study to find out who we are in Christ. ( see 2 Timothy 2:15) One quite comment on 2 Timothy 2:15. It states that we are to study to show ourselves ( not God) that we are approved in Christ and are NOT to be ashamed because of what Jesus has done for us on the Cross. That is the essence of rightly dividing the Word of Truth. Wow. There is so much more to come. You are blessed.
