Treasure of Truth
"The Original Languages of the Bible"
It is important for people to understand that the Bible was not originally written in
English. The Old Testament was written primarily in Hebrew while the New
Testament was penned in Greek.
The language of the New Testament is very interesting. The known world of the day
spoke predominantly Greek, due to the fact that Alexander the Great had conquered
much of that world. I believe this expressed God's heart to reach the entire world.
(See John 3:16)
This language was also full of word pictures which are very useful in conveying the
truths contained in Scripture verses.
Throughout the weekly devotionals posted on this website, the Hebrew and Greek languages of the Bible will often be used. It is our goal that these "Treasures of Truth" greatly bless you in your walk with the Lord.
