For the sake of review lets briefly define the spirit, soul, and body of a Christian. The spirit is the part of the person that recieves the very life and Person of the Holy Spirit upon the new birth. The soul is made up of the mind, will, and emotions of an individual. The sum total of the soul can be described as the personality. Than of course there is the body. This is the part that houses the spirit and soul. It is what others see.
Human beings have direct physical contact with the soul and body. The spirit part is non accessable through the five senses. The born again spirit is seen through the mirror of the spirit which is the New Covenant revelation found in the Bible. The more the mind (which is part of the soul ) is renewed or reprogrammed to what the believer has become in the spirit man the more this life manifests in one's experiance.
Think of it like this: "the soul is like a valve." Just like a water valve determines how much water is released depending on the degree that the valve is opened ; likewise the life of the Lord is released via the soul's renewal to the new covenant reality of Christ within, the hope of glory.(see Colossians 1:27) Our part is to open the soul valve wide through the understanding of who we are in Him. Glory
